This week’s guest author post is from writer, Daniela McVicker. She’s here to share her wisdom and Awakening Tips on how we can learn to reframe Negative emotion. Personally, I’d like to add learning to reframe our negative energy is a great skill to develop.
When i was in a rough spot awhile back during early stages of awakening, I continuously focused on what actually makes me happy and brings me joy, even if it was small, like an emotional outlet or a creative outlet like writing, coloring, music, playlists, baking, etc.
Eventually, I incorporated that as a daily joy I do daily to focus more on the good in life, it’s now become a staple in my daily life to focus continuously on the good and feeling good and tuning into my body when I’m going through something heavy. Negative emotion isn’t bad but we can use it as fuel to get back into Alignment. Contrast appears so we can unlock our desires
Here’s Daniela,

Negative emotions are an important segment of what makes us human, but encountering too many of them can be devastating to our physical and psychological health. Frustration, anger, fear, sadness, envy, jealousy and other “negative emotions” are all part of the human experience. They may all lead to stress and are often seen as feelings to refrain, ignore, or reject, but they can actually be beneficial for us to experience as well. Negative emotions tend to get out of control especially in the first minutes when they appear. Therefore, if you want to keep things under control and stay away from frustration and anger, you can follow the tips below.
5 Ways to Shield Yourself from Negative Emotions
1. Don’t have an immediate reaction
If you find yourself in an altercation or accosted by someone who is furious, try not to react. The best thing you can do is to stay calm. When you react, the negative energy you are building by taking part in the argument attracts more negative energy into your aura.
If you succeed in staying calm and disconnect from the situation, your energy field will push away the negative energy because you are remaining impartial or positive. Try to mentally repeat the expression “peace be with you” which will help you keep calm and will weaken the angry person.
2. Replace your negative thoughts with something positive
”Negative thought replacement” is a great method for reducing the number of negative thoughts in a person’s mind. For example, when you recognize and free the negative thoughts about your finances, you may begin introducing new thoughts in your mind.
You can take into consideration, in this case, some of the positive changes or actions your family has taken because of the job loss. Probably, you have become creative with your financial resources, put out lots of resumes, or modified some purchasing habits.
On the other hand, when you clear a negative thought about your bills, say something new to yourself like,
“I can control better the situation because I have cut down some of our bills,” or, “we are trying to find methods to use our money more prudently and it is helping.”
The positive information you have learned from these difficult situations will help you stay encouraged.
3. Get rid of negative emotions in a healthy escape
You can keep positive quotes in a journal and review them whenever you feel negative emotions take control over you. Everybody knows that persuasive quotes are one of the favorite ways to keep oneself on track in his/her bullet journal.
Try keeping an active collection of quotes in a virtual notebook, so you always have one on hand when you feel a negative emotion is nearby. You’ll be stunned to see how quickly your day can transform when you take the time to reflect on these words of wisdom.
You can find positive and encouraging words anywhere: song lyrics, book fragments, quotes from historical characters, proverbs or movies. For the beginning, you can try picking a quote each week. You can embroider the writing with doodles, borders, or hand-lettering if you like to make the message even more powerful.
Images and sounds can also be very persuasive for some people’s minds. If you realize you respond to these, you can connect a particular image with your positive thoughts to give them substance — it may be a color that you find calming or an object that represents control or strength to you.
4. Learn to forgive those who generated the negative emotions
Forgiving others is vital for your spiritual growth. Your contact with someone who has hurt you is, during a moment of anger, nothing more than a thought or feeling that you might not be able to carry around.
These feelings of rage, animosity, and hatred represent negative energies that will discredit you if you keep on letting these thoughts occupy space in your head. If you could let them go, you would find more peace.
Forgiveness is simply the act of releasing the stress that you carry from another person who has hurt you out of his/her own pain, ignorance, or confusion. It’s a practice of freeing up your energy in order to focus on the elements that are beneficial for your own health and well-being or the health and well-being of others.
Furthermore, the medical reality shows that holding onto resentment, actually keeps our cortisol running and makes us sick. Thus, the only person you need to forgive is actually yourself. What is more, forgiveness will not change anything about the past, but it will help you enlarge and adjust your future.
5. See the larger picture and understand that there is always a purpose behind everything that happens to us
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing occurs by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love, moments of true greatness, moments of fear or of stupidity, they all appear to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a perfectly paved, aligned, and flat road which leads to nowhere. It would be secure and convenient, but boring and utterly pointless.
The people you encounter and who influence your life and actions, as well as the success and failures, contribute to the creation of the person you will become. In fact, bad experiences are probably the most affecting and important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, the best thing you can do is to forgive them.
These persons have actually helped you learn about confidence and the importance of being prudent when you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back thoroughly, not only because they love you, but because somehow, they are teaching you how to love and how to open your heart. Make every day count!
Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and listen to them carefully.
Feel free to fall in love and set your standards high!
Tell yourself you are an extraordinary person and believe in yourself.
If you don’t believe in yourself, it will be difficult for others to believe in you!
Build your own life and go out to live it with absolutely no regrets.
And finally, enjoy looking forward to discovering a new lesson each day and to appreciating the journey.
