We have now completed the first spiral of Cycles of Healing (32 articles), laying the groundwork for linking the new moon with the Great Year Ages and all that involves. This second spiral will look at the new and full moon charts. If you are new to Western Sidereal Astrology, please read this article. I am using charts drawn up for Washington, D.C. and use sidereal whole sign houses. If you want to know how to use Cycles of Healing with each new moon for deep healing, read this article.
The forecast, as always, will affect individuals with natal planets or points in aspect to the planets and points covered below. To determine if these aspects will affect you personally, check your sidereal natal chart (the common tropical chart degrees will be way off and therefore useless – not apples to apples). To calculate your sidereal degrees, subtract 24° from your tropical degrees; this will be close, not exact, but good enough for our purposes. Sidereal astrology is where the planets actually are if you take the time to look up at the night sky.
The full Moon is in second house at 3° 35’ Capricorn exact at 6:57pm EDT. Our financial and security issues will be highlighted in the full moon. Perhaps opportunities to address this will show up specially if we have ignored it and it needs attention. If we feel stuck, we take a look at our possessions and ascertain what is congruent with who we are becoming and donate the rest to the thrift store, friends in need, or sell it to someone who will use and appreciate it. Even though the need of ‘storage for stuff’ has been on the rise, this doesn’t mean it is a wise move to have unlooked at, unused, unneeded stuff hanging like an albatross around our necks. We get more mileage from material freedom than from useless dead weight.
The Moon is about our past and we often keep things out of a sentimental attachment to what has passed. We feel disloyal if we move it on. But to whom are we really being disloyal? A memory? Clearing material space in our lives makes way for deep discovery of our inner truths. If you’ve ever had a big clear out, you’ll remember how good that felt. Do it again and again as often as you need to and feel the incredible lightness of being.
The Sun is our fuel and this new month in the constellation of Cancer it will help us move from a predominance of mind (Gemini) into the more feeling, heart opening energies. This month we need to focus on nurturing our deepest truths (8th house) and that will give us the fuel we need to move forward, unencumbered by all the stuff we sifted through and moved on.
Summer is often equated with holidays, picnics, fun and frolic, but this is just another way of viewing self-nurturing energy: having enjoyment in our lives. Self-nurture starts with not overdoing anything: sun, partying, late nights, or overeating, which is also equated by some with summer, or a general lifestyle. There’s a balanced way to do everything in the Goddess’ paradigm. Fuel up with self-nurturance this month and you will feel more alive and in tune with Her ready to make waves in more ways than one.
Mercury at 17° 29’ and Venus at 15° 24’ Cancer in the 8th house supports this shift of energy toward feeling from thinking. Our minds can slow down and move toward balance between right and left brain hemispheres more easily now. We may find ourselves naturally thinking about and articulating our values and our aesthetics.
Journal about what comes up and see how that fits in with who we are becoming. As the planets travel about the zodiac, we get to experiment with different energies and different ways of being and discover more of our authenticity in the process. What is most authentic to us and how can we adequately express that?
Mars is at 1° 34’ in 12th house Scorpio. Our desire for what we want in life may be subconscious now, or what we want may express itself unconsciously. We notice what comes into our lives now as that mirrors the subconscious, unknowable desires. As we become more consciously aware of this otherwise hidden material as it shows up outside of us, we clear important energies that have been used to keep this content out of view. We then have more energy available for conscious living.
Saturn at 16° 20’ retrograde, placed in the 12th, may make this slow going, but it will provide the much needed focus and discipline for this process of the subconscious becoming conscious. Square Neptune at 17° 37’ retrograde in 3rd house Aquarius, we may get intuitive hits or dreams letting us know what we need to be aware of. If you are used to keeping a dream journal, this will be very helpful to this process.
Jupiter is at the highest point in the chart: 25° 52’ in 9th house Leo. This expands our sense of fun, entertainment, adventure and looking at life with a new philosophy. Stay open to the new and transformative (Jupiter is trine Pluto in the 1st house). There is a lot of creativity flowing in and around our lives: new ways of doing something occur to us, new opportunities to create for art’s sake, and perhaps even expanding our circle of creative acquaintances, or those who need our creative endeavors. Summer films add the element of entertainment fun: my recommendation is the new Ghostbusters film – an important chance to support female lead roles in the usually male-dominant Hollywood summer blockbusters. Treat yourself to a date with yourself and double up on the aspects with some self-nurturing and self-acceptance.
Uranus at 0° 23’ in Aries 5th house, squares the Sun and Moon – potential revolution of our fuel and how we view our past. Be aware of potential insights suddenly surfacing. Uranus has just moved into Aries after having been in Pisces since April 2009. When a planet, specially an outer planet, moves into a new sign it signifies a whole new energy coming into our experience. However, Uranus will take some time to really get into Aries as on July 29th it will retrograde back into Pisces to give us one more opportunity to radically shift our compassionate natures before we have the chance to alter our individual expressions of ourselves. Are you ready to be a different sort of you? When Uranus goes back into Aries in April of next year, hopefully we have prepared the way with non-self-judgment, and lots of self-compassion as we follow where this electric energy leads us. For these few days, explore a radical sense of fun and unique creativity.
Pluto at 21° 49’ Sagittarius opposes asteroid Eurydice at 24° 7th house Gemini. We may find that our need or ability to rely on ourselves is transforming in some way. We do best if we do not rely on others just now and feel that we are enough for ourselves. Make choices that are congruent with whom you are becoming, let go of the need to control and then just enjoy everything as it is. Life will open up into magic.
