I don’t know if you’ve answered this, but; What is your diet? I mean, I would assume you would be vegan because of the obvious….
I eat Mexican, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Sushi, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Moroccan, Italian, I love cooking now that i am at home more…..Let’s just be honest with eachother. This topic is sooo controversial no matter what i say i am bound to piss someone off and get hate mail. lol However i think honesty shows respect/integrity so i’ll just tell you my opinion and how i feel about the issue.
I don’t think anyone should judge people on their eating habits, there is sooo much hate over this issue and it makes me really sad. From my personal experience i have been Vegan briefly, Vegetarian and a Meat eater. These are my choices and you have your own choices, why do we need to condemn each other for our eating habits and lifestyle choices? I remember reading a comment thread on fb about meat-eaters vs. vegan/vegetarians and some people were just so hateful.
I believe in the circle of life, there is a natural flow to existence animals eat other animals and humans have a personal choice whether they want to eat meat or eat veggie because we are truthfully omnivores. Meat has different compound amino acids than plant based proteins and truthfully some people need both for their own personal diet. we need to respect this.
“Mufasa: Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.
Young Simba: But, Dad, don’t we eat the antelope?
Mufasa: Yes, Simba, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connnected in the great Circle of Life.
During my awakening i switched to Vegan and settled into Vegetarian because I could not afford to be vegan with a minimum wage job as a college student plus i love cheese too much. I was happy being a Vegetarian for a long time then something crazy started happening to me, I randomly started craving meat. You have to realize how horrible that feels when you’ve been snacking on nothing but veggies and beans/hummus all the time and sudden crave atrocious meat . I decided to ignore the feeling and continue eating how i usually do. Little did i know what was happening to me was that I was becoming protein deficient and sure enough i found out i was pregnant shortly after. I tried to still eat vegetarian but during pregnancy you are hungry every 4 hours, it was impossible between a full schedule and 10 minute breaks to get all the nutrients i needed. So i had to bite the bullet and start eatting meat again. I craved milk, meat and potatoes like it was going out of style. It made me feel guilty at first, all this hard work because i was an empath and felt for animals but it made me question choice. Pregnancy puts you full-on survival mode and i did what i had to do to create a healthy child and keep myself healthy. It was my choice. Just like it is your choice to have your own eating habits.
Now it makes me think about what about the others who get condemned because they have a medical condition or anything similar to what i experienced. Why is there so much hate around our lifestyle choices? I did what i did because I broke down and listened to my body and we all need to make that choice with ourselves. Hating Monsanto and the food industry by boycotting the food industry is not the problem. We are the problem. How we choose to see others and see ourselves, Animals are just as important as us do not get me wrong but also if you go to Africa you would probably be surprised when you see a Lion attack an innocent Antelope for their own survival.
Now i personally wish we could treat our animals more ethnically with more respect than slaughterhouses and terrible torture houses but this isn’t going to change overnight either. It would be awesome if we all stopped our daily jobs, harvested crops and had farms but our world is built around convenience not sacrifice. I think if we even had a more honorable way of killing like the ancients who blessed the gods for their food for survival it would change our perspective. However what it comes down to is choice. We can protest the food chain but it isn’t going to stop it from flowing. There is a balance and Mother gaia has a purpose for all animals. If we spend our time hating these people how are we any different than them?
Personally i choose to eat a more natural based diet, I try to stay away from processed foods when i can, we love going to local stores around here rather than the big commercial based franchises. The food is fresher, there’s more variety and there also seems to be a lot more healthy energy behind the food and when we choose to buy any meat it seems cleaner. A few of my favorite places are the Middle Eastern store, there’s a mexican bodega in town and my new favorite is a fresh produce store that is fresher than most grocery stores! Anyway i didn’t mean to write a book but basically it’s about choice. I’m moving more back into my vegetarian ways but i’m also learning about how the more we judge the more we are just as bad as them. There is a delicate balance and we all need to appreciate the flow of the circle of life. Whatever your choice may be, do it with honor and integrity towards yourself by listening to your body.
Always remember we all have a place within the circle of life
Mother Gaia respects all, from the omnivore to the carnivore to the herbivore, just like you should
