I recently was thrown into the experience of living NOW, it was honestly a very very overwhelming experience that I had never had before. I tell myself everyday to live in the moment, but this one moment was like no other! I saw everything for how it was, I was reevaluating my life and choices. I had no negative association with them, just realistic views and solutions to my “problems”—which weren’t really problems, they were just things that I could improve and benefit from. I truly felt as though my world had formed into a different dimension and i was living a new experience. I no longer felt like I was a mindless body following mindless directions. I felt purpose and alive. So how do you stay in that awakened state of mind and body? There’s moments I feel a glimpse again, but It tends to whither down as the moment is lost. The feeling is so indescribable and amazing, I thrive to be there. The moment had me thinking clearly and breathing. I think that meditation will help me, but what other daily things can I do?

This reminds me of the feelingEckhartTolle had when he encountered utterly completely present awareness. I would suggest to read his book Power of Now if you haven’t, he expresses many ideas on learning to observe the mind, how to dislodge the ego through awareness and how to start moving your mind to a very present mindset through inner stillness. You don’t have to have meditation to do this,i actually can go into this state pretty easily, it’s called Present Awareness, it’s where your mind is very clear and you become a receptive channel to the oneness of your being. When we listen and feel we open ourselves into this awareness andobserveration of the mind. It teaches you to question yourself and your thoughts. Why doi feel this sadness, why doi feel angry, why doi want to argue with her, why didi say that? It creates a bridge within your being where you learn to cultivate your Ego mind into your present. It’s the Transcendence of the Ego into Soulful awareness. We need both but the Ego can teach us numerous things about ourselves and others. It helps guide us in many ways as much as our intuition but it’s through this guidance that we see inner stillness.Meditation is merely a tool into this awareness but like yoga, you want to be able to take it everywhere you go. The true gift of yoga is that they always tell you, you want to take yoga off the mat and into your own life whether you’re in the woods, the grocery store, out with friends or in your car. In this same way, you want to bring meditation with you everywhere. You can start small by just becoming conscious of your reality, really looking into the details, you want to immerse yourself into the NOW moment in totality. Then this slowly builds up as you start “monitoring” your ego so to speak. You want to become your own personal scientist performing psychological experiments and observing them with your own mental checklist. It starts with internal awareness then you want to start learning to project it outward by watching, become the silent watcher of your thoughts and soon you will start to see how others react as well. It’s a beautiful gift to learn and it really helps your personal awareness in a situation especially when you are confronted with the Ego. The first step is realizing we are both ego and soul beings, but we are the bridge through the heart connecting them together.
Hope this helps
