Can’t meditate for Long

Okay… so I have always been quite spiritual just in my general state of consciousness, but it wasn’t until about a month ago that I started doing a lot of reading and subsequently I started meditating every day. At first I could easily sit for 30min-1hour with no problems. The past week or so however I find I can’t maintain it for more than 15-20 minutes… maybe you could lend some insight as to why this is? I’ve only sat for an hour once in the past week which was in my group meditation I go to on Monday’s tho my back was aching so bad for the last half I wasn’t really meditating just thinking with my eyes closed -_- any insight is appreciated!

Something is creating your restless mind, thoughts, words, an experience that has left you pondering too deep. Sometimes our bodies don’t want to meditate because our ego mind is trying to fight back. You have to just let those thoughts come and accept them, surrender into them and let them dissolve. If your back is hurting, try changing positions when you meditate, there is no right or wrong way to meditate. try lying down instead or sitting in a comfy chair. If you’re having trouble with a still mind, I highly highly recommend The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I just recently finished the book and it’s helped me tremendeously through my own awakening. He teaches you not only what the ego is, what it does but how to conquer your own mind. The true power of meditation is not in the act itself but in the choices we make. You have to become the observer and the listener of your mind to discover your subconscious thoughts and let them pass over you. It is a process, an act of surrender and acceptance but most of all you have to be kind towards yourself. Ahimsa. The yoga moral code of balance No violence towards other people or even yourself, so be gentle with your thoughts and learn to see the positive within the negative to surrender and accept yourself where you are in your given path.
